Blogging with Evernote iPhone App?

what goes here i wonder.

From Evernote:

Blogging with Evernote iPhone App?

I don't know why I just can't get into using Evernote. I'm definitely a notetaker and jotter-downer. Now with the pain in my wrist and thumb, I find myself focused on trying new tools that will enable me to keep blogging and podcasting. So, I thought I'd fire up the Evernote app on my iPhone and see what I might be able to do with it. It seems I can type out a note, add tags and then email it. Posterous supports tagging and I remember reading somewhere a way to tag posts but I can't remember how to do it. So, I'm curious now if Evernote will transfer the tags I give it into Posterous.

Yet another test.

Got Junk in Your Drawers?

You have a dirty mind.

And evidently so does someone living in this house or an old roommate who has left a thing or two behind. Ahem.

No, I'm not excluding myself.

So I was cleaning out a junk drawer this evening -- what? You only have ONE?! -- and I discovered some magnetic poetry. You know -- the kind you can put on your fridge where they are individual magnets with words on them?

Now that I'm a parent I see things very differently. When I discovered this box of magnetic words I immediately thought, "Cool! I can use this as a learning tool for when the boys start reading words. Wouldn't it be fun to put sentences together on the fridge?"

Well -- it turns out there is the regular version and then there is an adult version. Yeah. Sure -- words like 'leg' or 'moist' or 'stroke' seemed innocent enough. Then words for other body parts started showing up.

One word rhymes with banana split and another one rhymes with double click.

Somehow two sets got mixed together and ended up scattered in the bottom of a junk drawer.

While it would be totally fun to put a scandelous message on the fridge for dear Hubby to see -- my luck we'll forget to take it off before Lucian learns to read and then we'll have some 'splainin to do!!

So, um, yeah -- I don't have the patience right now to sit and sort through all 300 little magnets to make a kid-friendly version and a beer fridge version so I'm putting them back in the junk drawer. Now that I've blogged this I can only hope we remember to think twice before attempting to play with them next time we host a playdate at our home!!

I can just see it now: "oh look! magnetic words! Ummm, Mrs. Davis, what's this word mean? Is it some kind of playdoh made from dill pickles?"

Beware of the junk drawer!

Can You Guess the iPhone App?

As some of you may know, Lucian has his own pages of kiddie apps on our iPhone and iPod Touch so at times we hand one of the devices to him so he can entertain himself for a few minutes while one of us tries to complete (ha, yeah, right — ok, at least start...) a task around the house. (He's mostly supervised while using it, knows to tell us right away if an ad pops up or if it does something he can't read.) Yesterday he sat quietly on a chair and played a game on my iPhone for several minutes. He was so quiet that I wondered what game he was playing that could be so intense!

So I asked him what game he was playing. He said, "I'm playing the golden lemon game, Mommy."

Can you guess which game this really is? I figured it out when I heard the sounds the game makes, but I'm curious to know what you think it might be.

Just for fun :)

Hands Free Blogging?

I'm recording this message using an iPhone app called dictation made by Dragon I'm not using a keyboard I'm just using my voice and I'm talking and it's recording what I'm saying I'm wondering if I can post a blog post using this application it seems you have to keep talking in order for keep recording or else it stops and you have to press the record button again actually no it only records for certain amount of time I wish there was a countdown so I can see how much time I have left before it stops recording my voice it only records for so long and then it tells you it's processing and then you have to press record again emergency continuing the same message as you can see if you're reading this message some of the words don't really make sense. So it's good but it's not perfect. I've also found that it's very difficult to just talk stream of consciousness for me personally. Anyhow I just thought this was a fun little app to try out and see how it might come in handy for hosting status updates or blog posts or even tweet I wonder if anyone else has used this app called dictation by dragon I also noticed that there's no capitalization or punctuation and you must also speak very clearly I guess that makes sense of course I suppose it saves time and that you don't have to type everything out and then you just go back in and edit were text with proper E. capitalization and punctuation I'm sure you can figure out where the mistakes are in this text I wonder how this would be used in combination with the iPhone's built-in universal access features in other words being able to speak commands such as Don or capitalize the letter AA or stop with me and insert it. It would be great if I could just say e-mail, post and have it actually e-mail the text to posters and have it show up on on my blog automatically or auto magically I wonder if it will figure out that word well anyhow Hailis just having some fun. Let me know if you used this app and how you used it and if you like it

Infant Art Appreciation

I recently built for my family a Mac Media Center. It took us some time to save up for this project, but it's finally put together and working out well. (I'll never say it's complete because I'm always tweaking things about it!) Sometime soon I will document all of the components and how I set it up, but here is a preview of just one of the many ways I'm putting it to use here in our home.
In this example is Keagan at 6 weeks old enjoying some artwork I created for him in the form of a screensaver set to music that plays on the TV. I lay him on the bed in different directions so he learns to turn his head and look from different sides. (Sometimes he favors turning his head to the same side, so this helps with that.) I also roll him over or prop him up on his boppy pillow (with supervision of course) for tummy time to watch this engaging screen saver. Research has shown that the combination of high-contrast patterns in black, white and red, and classical music help to stimulate babies' brains and visual recognition. Keagan is just beginning to find visual stimuli very interesting so I'm trying to foster that.

My Mac media center is basically a MacBook Pro hooked up to a flat-screen TV using HDMI among other cables. All the wires and hardware is neatly tucked away inside of a computer armoire. I control it all using the TV remote, my iPhone and sometimes a bluetooth keyboard. (Reviews are in the works for these products, so stay tuned!) I use the MobileAirMouse app on the iPhone and iPod Touch which turns these devices into a wireless remote.

I created this artwork of basic shapes in black, white, and red using iWork Pages. I used the shapes tool and designed high-contrast patterns on twenty four 8 x 11 pages. Next, I exported the document as a PDF, "printed" it to iPhoto and then exported the images in JPG format to my Pictures folder. Then I set the System Preferences Screen Saver to play a slideshow of the images from that folder. Alternatively you could set System Preferences to use an iPhoto Event as your images source.
An iTunes playlist comprised of sample selections of music courtesy of babytraxaudio.com provides the slideshow soundtrack. (Working on a review for this product too!)

Keagan really enjoys this and it helps calm him when he is fussy. Maybe your baby would like this hi-tech toy as well? I know we do!
Here is a video slideshow I've uploaded of my artwork so you can see what it looks like. You can even view it in HD on a full screen. Just put on your favorite classical iTunes playlist, sit back and relax :)
Enjoy!
